PHYSICIANS MUTUAL CHAIR SIDE CHAT
MAIN PATIENT AUDITION INSTRUCTIONS

Self Tape Submissions are due by end of the day on Tuesday September 12th

TECHNICAL SELF-TAPE INSTRUCTIONS

RECORDING DEVICE / FRAMING:
  • You can record your self-taped audition on a cell phone camera, you do not need a fancy camera.
  • Your phone or camera should record in the landscape / horizontal position (Sideways)
  • Please do NOT leave excessive empty space between your head and the top of the frame or feet and the bottom.
  • For the Slate and Scene please frame yourself up so we can see you from the waist up. (noted again below)

LIGHTING / AUDIO:
  • Record your audition in a well-lit area. Soft and/or natural light is preferred.
  • Your light source should come from behind the camera, not from behind you, otherwise we will only see your silhouette.

LOCATION:
  • Record in an uncluttered area where we can see you clearly. Ideally against a neutral backdrop.
  • Avoid loud or noisy areas (i.e. fans, street noise, etc.).

WARDROBE:
  • Scrubs or a button up shirt or nice t-shirt.

SCENE INSTRUCTIONS AND SCRIPT

TAKES: Please provide TWO DISTINCTLY DIFFERENT TAKES OF THE BELOW SCENE. Feel free to ad lib in ONE of the 2 takes to show us some humor

CONTEXT: You are sitting in a chair at the dentist office, the dental hygienist just finished with you so now you are waiting for the dentist to come into the room. You hear a voice behind you that sounds like your dentist, you have the following conversation not realizing that you are actually speaking with a talking tooth named Benny!

BENNY:
"Hey, I heard you're retiring soon. You excited?"

MAIN PATIENT:
"Yeah Doc, but there's so much to consider. Medicare. Finances..."
Oh. And I lose my dental insurance."

BENNY:
"But you can get your own."

MAIN PATIENT:
"Where?"

BENNY:
"From Physicians Mutual. Easiest decision ever.
It's real dental insurance that's real affordable."

MAIN PATIENT:
"Oh, right... I think my neighbor has Physicians Mutual."

BENNY:
"Well, I think my work here is done."

BENNY DARTS OUT OF THE ROOM. THE MAIN PATIENT IS SURPRISED THAT THE "DENTIST" IS ALREADY LEAVING.

MAIN PATIENT:
Wait, what?
