SCENES:
FRAMING: Frame yourself in camera so you can be seen from the chest up.
FOCUS ON YOUR FACIAL EXPRESSIONS: All of these scenes are non-verbal, we really need to see how you can express these subtle emotions with your face. Feel free to look directly at or near the camera, we want to be able to see most of your face.
DIALOGUE: You are free to add some lines in here and there as you see fit, but please keep these moments mostly non-verbal.
SUBTLE NOT OVERLY DRAMATIC: We are looking for performances that feel genuine and authentic, nothing over dramatic or cheesy, we want to honor these real life experiences by portraying them realistically. Subtle is the name of the game here, don't go over the top.
REMEMBER THE CHARECTER DESCRIPTION FROM THE CASTING BREAKDOWN AND INCORPORATE THEM.
SCENE:
Mike is a member of the local Mountain Rescue team. He is a seasoned, reserved, expert climber. He is NOT a very emotive person.
A group of high school students and adults have gone missing on a mountain during a blizzard and Mike is helping lead a Search and Rescue group. Mike is walking against a blinding storm (you can walk in place or whatever works well with your framing), determined and fighting the elements, not giving up. Mike isn't scared as much as he is frustrated with the conditions and their inability to aid in the rescue more.
They have been searching for days when Mike comes up suddenly on three bodies. He is hoping they are alive but with deep sadness discovers that they aren't moving and have passed away.
