SCENES:
FRAMING: Frame yourself in camera so you can be seen from the chest up.
FOCUS ON YOUR FACIAL EXPRESSIONS: All of these scenes are non-verbal, we really need to see how you can express these subtle emotions with your face. Feel free to look directly at or near the camera, we want to be able to see most of your face.
DIALOGUE: You are free to add some lines in here and there as you see fit, but please keep these moments mostly non-verbal.
SUBTLE NOT OVERLY DRAMATIC: We are looking for performances that feel genuine and authentic, nothing over dramatic or cheesy, we want to honor these real life experiences by portraying them realistically. Subtle is the name of the game here, don't go over the top.
REMEMBER THE CHARECTER DESCRIPTION FROM THE CASTING BREAKDOWN AND INCORPORATE THEM.
SCENE 1: BUS: (No hat in this scene)
Patrick is on the bus on his way to an annual school mountaineering trip. He is easy going and has a friendly electric smile. He has a case of the sniffles but is still having fun with his friends on the bus, laughing, pointing out the window at the mountain, etc.
Show us :15 seconds of Patrick on the bus SCENE 2: THE CLIMB(WEAR A BEANIE FOR THIS SCENE)
Moment 1 - As the group is climbing the weather is getting a lot worse. Patrick is a trooper and he trudges on despite his cold but slowly he runs out of steam, starts to feel cold and uncomfortable. He keeps trudging uphill but is despondent and his attitude has changed. Show us a few moments of climbing "like a trooper" before slowly hitting that wall and slowing down.
Moment 2 - Patrick has reached the top of the climb but is hypothermic, he starts slurring his word, loosing his coordination and and collapses, panicked and wide-eyed. Show us this as best as possible (if you need to adjust your framing that is fine). You do not need to fully collapse if there is not a safe way to do so in your space! The wide eyed panic, portraying hypothermia is the most important part.
SCENE 3: SLEEPING BAG (BEANIE)
Patrick is in a sleeping bag with another student. He is shivering and going in and out of consciousness.
