TECHNICAL SELF-TAPE INSTRUCTIONS
RECORDING DEVICE / FRAMING:
LIGHTING / AUDIO:
LOCATION:
WARDROBE:
- You can record your self-taped audition on a cell phone camera, you do not need a fancy camera.
- Your phone or camera should record in the landscape / horizontal position (Sideways)
LIGHTING / AUDIO:
- Record your audition in a well-lit area. Soft and/or natural light is preferred.
- Your light source should come from behind the camera, not from behind you, otherwise we will only see your silhouette.
LOCATION:
- Record in an uncluttered area where we can see you clearly. Ideally against a neutral backdrop. You can film outdoors if you have good lighting and it is quiet. Avoid loud or noisy areas (i.e. fans, street noise, etc.).
WARDROBE:
- Casual clothes that you would wear around the house on a summer day. No athletic clothes.
SLATE / INTRODUCTION VIDEO
Frame yourself in camera so you can be seen from head to toe
1. What is your full name?
2. How tall are you?
2. Where are you located? If you are not located in San Diego, are you willing to work as a San Diego local?
4. Are you represented by a talent agent? If so, who?
5. Do you have any visible tattoos (arms, hands, calves, neck, etc.). If so, please show them to us.
6. If you have one, tell us a brief story about a time where you had to deal with someone who bite off more than they could chew. Whether that is your spouse doing a project at home, or a friend or child. Please show off your personality while telling this story.
After you answer all questions show us your side profiles (turn to the right and pause, then turn to the left and pause)

SCENE INSTRUCTIONS AND SCRIPT
FRAMING: Frame yourself in camera so you can be seen from the knees up.
EYE LINE: Do not read your lines directly into the camera. Look slightly off camera and slightly down when responding to the different characters.
TAKES: Please provide 3 different and unique takes of the following scene. You will notice that there are 2 different versions of your line. Swap out this line for the first 2 takes, for the 3rd take remove the line and react ONLY with your facial expressions / physicality.
Please have someone read the opposite characters rights off-camera if possible.
CONTEXT: Your husband stubbornly decided to build a backyard pool instead of hiring a professional. He is now stuck knee deep in cement at the bottom of the pool. You are at the top of the pool looking down on him. You love him but are annoyed that he does things like this.
SCRIPT:
OPEN ON WIFE LOOKING DOWN INTO UNFINISHED POOL AT HER HUSBAND STANDS KNEE-DEEP IN HARDENED CONCRETE
HUSBAND:
"In hindsight, probably shouldn’t have tried to build the pool myself."
WIFE:
(NOT TOO CROSS OR ANGRY)

Line Option 2: Ya think Einstein?
Option 3: Respond with your facial expressions / physicality only
HUSBAND:
It dried so fast
WIFE IS ANNOYED (Show us your reaction, you are annoyed but you still love him. Show us different reactions from take to take)
